Jefferson Middle School is proud to serve a community that values education and hard work. We serve students in grades 6th through 8th from designated areas of Villa Park, Lombard, and Elmhurst.
Our students represent a linguistic and culturally diverse population that enrich the experiences for all at school and beyond. We have the luxury of an active and committed Parent/Teacher Association (PTA) that tirelessly works to support and enrich the experiences for all students at Jefferson.
All students benefit from two primary structures at Jefferson to aide in their success. The first structure is a grade level team in which teachers meet weekly to discuss students needs and grade level organizations that will support students’ academic and social-emotional learning. The second structure is a Professional Learning Community (PLC) structure at each subject area. Teachers meet weekly by subject area to determine what students need to learn, how they will evaluate they have learned it, and what they will do for students that have learned it and those that have not. These two structures allow for all teachers to collaborate to help students reach their highest potential.
Jefferson Middle School offers a curriculum that is designed to challenge and prepare our students for future growth and continued education. Students receive a curriculum aligned to national standards. These include the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), Illinois Learning Standards for Social Sciences (ILSSS), Social Emotional Learning Standards (SEL), and College and Career Redlines Standards (CCRS). These standards drive our curricular programming and teachers collaborate to continuously work to align their instruction to these standards.
Students also enjoy exploring their personal interests through a comprehensive exploratory program. These include both curricular and extracurricular programming. All students participate in Art, General Music, Food & Consumer Science, and Project Lead the Way on a quarterly rotation each year. Students can also elect to participate in Band, Orchestra, and/or Choir. Additionally, students can participate in a wide variety of extra-curricular activities such as clubs and athletics. These include Drama, Steel Drum Band, School Spirit Club, Builders Club, and Intramurals. Our competitive athletic program includes teams for boys and girls in Basketball, Cross Country, Soccer (co-ed), Track & Field, and Volleyball.
Jefferson Middle School is proud of its tradition of striving for excellence and we continue to expand our offerings to help all students learn and grow. We are confident that your student will have a positive and rich experience at Jefferson as they learn and grow. Welcome you to Jefferson, our community, and we are proud to have you as a Wildcat!
